The strain of Rihanna's relationship with her father, Ronald Fenty, went public in 2009 after he sold stories about his daughter's relationship with Chris Brown to the tabloids. Rihanna later admitted to Vogue that she found the betrayal devastating. Now, the pop star's father has made statements sure to widen the schism between them, calling his daughter "fat." Ugh.
Also in music news, Adam Levine is planning to release a fragrance, Wilson Phillips is making a big comeback, and Miley Cyrus sparred—politely—with some of her more conservative Christian followers on Twitter. What a day, what a day.
Rihanna took her father Ronald Fenty with her to the Grammy Awards this year, thereby giving her dad more tabloid fodder. He told Heat magazine (via Page Six), "I actually thought she was a little fat the last time I saw her. When I saw her at this year's Grammys, I thought she was back to her normal size. I used to joke with her, 'Robyn, you're getting too fat.' But I think she's fine. I think she looked excellent, as everyone saw, at the Grammys. She's dieting, she's working out."
Also, Rih's dad would be fine were she to reconcile with her abusive ex Chris Brown: "Chris is a nice guy and everybody's entitled to make mistakes in their life. God knows how many I've made."
Yeah, we'd say calling your daughter fat in front of a journalist is a pretty big mistake.
