Rebecca Black Dominated Google Searches in 2011

Rebecca Black beat Lady Gaga at something. (PCN) Adele might have scooped up all the accolades and critical triumph in 2011, but the year's biggest Internet star was Rebecca Black. This according to Google's annual Zeitgeist report, which analyzes the search terms that made the biggest gains in popularity over the past twelve months.

Also, Justin Bieber is manipulating 13-year-old girls to sell perfume, Snoop Dogg has infuriated a man in Lebanon, Timbaland has opened up about his love for Aaliyah, and Demi Lovato has been flirting up a storm with someone you used to love on Friday nights.

  •  Rebecca Black was the #1 Fastest Rising Search on Google's radar in the past year, thanks solely to a repetitive little ditty called "Friday." It hasn't been all peachy for Rebecca, who dropped out of school in favor of homeschooling after classmates began taunting her over her viral video hit, but she's now practically a household name... thanks in part to Google.

The search giant reports that searches on Black's name jumped more than 10,000 percent in the past year, hitting an all time high on March 20, two weeks after her song's release. From March 6-20, Rebecca was more popular search-wise than the reigning queen of pop, Lady Gaga. Interestingly enough, Black's popularity extended across the globe: She topped the charts in New Zealand (the fact that Auckland figures prominently in the video might have something to do with it).

If you still can't get enough of Rebecca, check out comedian Grace "DailyGrace" Heilbig's "Official Sexy Friday Song," which features exactly none of Rebecca's vocals but is still awesome.

  •  Rebecca's dream collaborator Justin Bieber is working extra hard to sell perfume this Christmas, offering an interactive advertising experience to the legions of girls who believe he's their future husband.

Fans can upload pictures of themselves and then watch Bieber pretend to interact with their own image. In one of the spots, Bieber waxes poetic about the nice-smelling girl he saw at Starbucks, before scrolling through a few shots of said mystery lady.

Well, I had fun with it.

  •  Snoop Dogg's love of the sticky icky has caused a lot of problems for one Lebanese concert promoter, who says his business has been seriously damaged by the blunt Snoop smoked at a concert after-party in 2009.

According to a man named Roger Kalaouz, footage of Snoop partaking in his favorite illegal substance made it into his music video for "That's Tha Homie," causing Lebanese authorities to launch a criminal investigation into his company. Now, Kalaouz claims, his reputation is "severely damaged," so he needs the SoCal rapper to pony up $280,000 in damages. Good luck with that one, dude!

R. Kelly and his rumored child bride, Aaliyah.   •  Timbaland is the latest star to be featured on E!'s True Hollywood Story, revealing, among other things, the fact that he was completely in love with Aaliyah.

In a promo for the upcoming television special, he explains, "When I first met Aaliyah – it's time for the world to hear this, I'm gonna give a little secret – I was in love with her. I said, 'But I'm not... she just a baby, I'm old.' I said to myself, 'I'm just gonna be her brother.' Oh man, I was fightin', I was fightin' a lot – a big war. But I loved Aaliyah."

Timbaland was not the only much-older gentleman to fall in love with the late singer, who died in a plane accident in 2001. For years, it's been rumored that the singer illegally married fellow R&B singer R. Kelly when she was only 15.

  • Wilmer Valderrama's sometimes girlfriend Demi Lovato has been flirting with another older gentleman. The 19-year-old former Disney star exchanged a few mildly adorable tweets with Ben Savage of Boy Meets World  fame, who found it necessary to announce that he, like Lovato, has been on a "Michelle Branch kick lately."

And this happened:

Who's next? Jonathan Taylor Thomas? Patrick Duffy?
