Ryan Gosling Wants to Make Babies, Settles for Making Films

The good news: Ryan Gosling is single and wants kids. The bad news: He's hasn't found a gal who lives up to "two of the greatest girlfriends of all time," and he's too attached to his film career to invest in his search right now.

Ryan Gosling (Getty)The Drive actor said about the prospect of settling down (via Contact Music): "There's interest but I'm in a committed relationship with film. I'm giving as much to it as a marriage."
He added: "I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies. When someone comes along I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies. I have no idea when the handover will happen."

Gosling has learned the hard way that his dedication to his craft gets in the way of 
relationships. He sites Hollywood as a main factor in his breakups with great gals like Sandra Bullock and Rachel McAdams. The actor explained: "Show business is the bad guy. When both people are in show business it's too much show business. It takes all of the light, so nothing else can grow."

Gosling, 30, dated Bullock from 2002 to 2003 and then he and McAdams got together while filming The Notebook in 2004. They made it about four years before calling it quits. He looked back on their messy split in a past interview: "The only thing I remember is we both went down swingin' and we called it a draw." (Apparently the memories are a lot rosier now, since he counts McAdams as one of those two "greatest girlfriends of all time.")

So, the guy's not actively looking for the woman who'll be the mother of his kids just yet, but don't let that fool you into thinking he's not dating at all. Rumor has it he's romanced several leading ladies this year. He and Olivia Wilde went on at least one steamy date while shooting The Ides of March a few months back and he's wooed a few ladies at Disneyland. He took Blake Lively there in October 2010 (before she started dating Leonardo DiCaprio), and earlier this month he shared the magic of Mickey with Eva Mendes.

Someday this dreamy dude will undoubtedly end up with the "right" girl, especially since he's one of Hollywood's hottest commodities. Combine his boundless charm, wit, and good looks with his crime-fighting skills and he's pretty much the perfect guy. Actor Tyler Hilton has it nailed. He tweeted: "I think the most romantic thing I can say to my girlfriend is 'You deserve Ryan Gosling.'"
