"Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement," her rep Jeff Raymond told People. "As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
Spears and Trawick, who've been together since 2009, also released personal statements on the breakup. "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement," Spears said. "I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
Trawick added: "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
No reason has been cited for the breakup, but in March 2011, Spears said about the relationship: "We're really normal. We just like to watch movies. We work out a lot. We love to work out. We do stuff together like that. We take walks." Maybe they just got bored.
Rumors have been swirling about the relationship's demise for a few months now. TMZ says the reason the confirmation took so long was that Trawick wanted to make sure he was off the singer's conservatorship first. He was in court with Spears' dad and some lawyers Friday afternoon and has already given up control of Spears' moolah.
The breakup news comes on the heels of Ms. Spears decision not to return for another season of X Factor and rumors about her nabbing her own Las Vegas show. It's going to be an exciting 2013 for this blonde.
